Xi Paotai Park is one of the most well-preserved ancient artillery batteries in China, featuring characteristics of both ancient castles and modern advanced military facilities. It was originally constructed during the second year of the Daoguang Emperor’s reign (1876) and consists of walls, a moat city, a parade ground, and an underground command post. It is one of the most intact ancient artillery batteries preserved in China to date. The park is strategically located on a prominent terrain with a commanding view of the sea, making it a crucial military position both offensively and defensively during wartime. The specific opening hours are subject to the on-site announcement at the scenic area.
