Xi Garden, situated on Tang Village Street in Wuyuan County, leans to the left on Jinping Mountain and to the right by the Xingjiang River, is an exquisite Jiangnan garden. Integrating cultural history and natural landscapes, Xi Garden comprises of key attractions such as Queli Archway, Yingui Bridge, Zunjing Pavilion, Zhu’s Manor, Ziyang Academy, Thatched Cottage, and Zhufei Pond. The garden is surrounded by mountains and water, with lush flowers and trees, winding corridors, and reflected pavilions, offering a different view with every step, pleasing to both the eye and the heart.

Xi Garden is a ‘literati freehand landscape garden’ with profound cultural connotations. It was the home of Zhu Xi’s second ancestor, Zhu Tingjun, and third ancestor, Zhu Zhaoyuan. Zhu Xi visited twice to pay homage to his ancestors and left behind many traces of the Zhu family and his own. Centuries-old camphor, cinnamon, and bitter chestnut trees are still lush and full of vitality. These buildings filled with scholarly atmosphere, along with the landscape and flora, blend harmoniously, creating a profound artistic conception in every mountain, water, grass, and tree of the garden.
