Originally named Xiahaiyiwang Temple. Xihaimiao Temple is a folk temple where fishermen worship the sea god, suppress ocean tides and pray for safe voyages. As it is located at Xiahai Estuary, it is also called Xihaimiao Temple. Its construction date is unknown but can be traced back to 610 AD, the sixth year of Daye period of Emperor Yangdi of Sui Dynasty. Since Xihaimiao Temple is located on the east bank of Xiahai Pu River, and residents and boatmen on the west bank of Xiahai Pu River often enter the temple to burn incense, carrying bamboo baskets (containing offerings) and passing through a bridge on the river. Hence, the name ‘Tilanqiao Bridge’ came into being. Opening hours: Open all year round from 07:00 to 15:00. During incense periods (the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month), the opening hours are from 6:00 to 15:30. Specific opening hours are subject to on-site announcements at the scenic spot.
