Two giant pandas, Dede and Qingqing, from the Bifengxia Giant Panda Conservation Base in Ya’an, Sichuan, arrived in Deqing on January 22, 2013, and have since taken residence by the shores of Xiaxu Lake, now living in the Panda Pavilion of the Fangfengchuan Panda Park. The entire Panda Pavilion is constructed following the natural contours of the hillside, with the main hall featuring white walls and black tiles, embodying the classical architectural style of the Huizhou School.

The two-tone color scheme of black and white symbolizes the pandas’ physical colors. Inside the pavilion, there are bamboos, rocks, a play pool, small wooden bridges, and a simulated ecological environment, providing a sheltered space for the pandas to play and frolic. The outdoor area includes bamboos, lawns, perches, and climbing poles. Pandas are independent in nature and possess a territorial concept, hence both the indoor and outdoor areas are separated into two distinct zones, creating their own exclusive paradise.

To ensure that the pandas can still enjoy fresh bamboo even during shortages, the Forestry Bureau has specifically established a bamboo base near the Panda Pavilion. The panda couple will reside in a ‘villa-class’ new home; this Panda Pavilion is of villa-class standard, offering three activity areas to maximize the pandas’ space for movement. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.
