Xiamen Botanical Garden: A Haven for Rare Plants and Scenic Beauty

Xiamen Botanical Garden is a botanical garden encircling the Wanshi Rock Reservoir. Within the garden, visitors can observe a variety of rare plant landscapes, such as Chinese Pines, Japanese Gold Pines, Araucaria cunninghamii, and uniquely shaped cacti among other exotic flora, making it a popular spot for photography.
Apart from the plant life, the garden also features numerous stone carvings, lakes, lawns, and temples among its landscapes. The garden is organized into specialized plant areas based on the types of plants cultivated, including a succulent area, cactus area, gymnosperm area, palm island, rose garden, desert plant area, and rainforest world. Here, you can see a variety of plants related to each category.

Particularly worth visiting are the Rainforest World and the Desert Plant Area. Although the Rainforest World is artificial, it is misty and adorned with beautiful tropical rainforest scenery, appearing as if it were a fairyland. The Desert Plant Area showcases many peculiarly shaped cacti.

In addition to the plants, the garden is also known for attractions such as “Taiping Rock Smile”, “Wanshi Han Cui”, and the Tianjie Temple. The main entrance of the garden is located on the west side, also known as the West Gate. Shortly after entering, one can see the Araucaria cunninghamii lawn.

Visitors can take an electric cart to tour the garden, which allows for boarding and alighting at any stop. The garden is open from October 8th to April 30th from 6:30 to 17:30; from May 1st to October 7th from 6:30 to 18:00. The Rainforest World’s misting (spraying) schedule is from October 8th to April 30th: 9:00-11:00 and 14:00-16:00; from May 1st to October 7th: 9:30-11:30 and 14:30-16:30.
