Xiamen Huli Mountain Battery was first built in 1894 (the 20th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty). The scope of cultural relics protection is about 55,400 square meters, among which the area inside the castle is 13,000 square meters. It is divided into the battle platform area, the barracks area and the back mountain area. The structure of the battery is semi-bunker and semi-city wall style, integrating European style and the architectural charm of the Ming and Qing dynasties in China.
Huli Mountain Battery is a product of the Westernization Movement in modern China. Due to its important location, it was historically known as the “Gateway to Fujian and the Key to the South of the Sky”. The 280mm Krupp cannon in the battle platform area is the well-known “King of World Cannons”. It has been identified by the National Cultural Heritage Administration as the “rear-loading coastal cannon manufactured in the 19th century and completely preserved at the original battery site in the world”, and has been selected into the national large-scale heritage protection project during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period and the Shanghai Great World Guinness Record.

The iron mold iron cannon located in the back mountain area is the “unique surviving item” of the modern iron mold cannon casting method in China and is also a precious treasure of the battery.

As a brilliant business card and important window for Xiamen tourism, Huli Mountain Battery, with its profound historical and cultural value, unique geographical location in the coastal area, beautiful natural ecological landscape and rich tourism activity items, has become a comprehensive cultural tourism and leisure scenic area with profound cultural heritage, concentrated aesthetic value and beautiful sea-viewing spots on the Xiamen Ring Road.
