Built along the coast, the Island Ring Road boasts numerous scenic spots along its path. Strolling on the quiet wooden walkway, the nearby beach, the distant sea, and the sunrise and sunset against the backdrop of the ocean scenery are so captivating that it’s hard to move on. You can also rent a bicycle to ride, allowing the sea breeze to brush against your face, adding a unique charm to the experience.
The Island Ring Road spans approximately 31 kilometers and is locally referred to as the ‘Five-Color Road’: the blue sea, golden beach, green grassland, red track, and gray road. There are many beautiful attractions along the way, such as the Hulishan Fort, Coconut Wind Village, International Conference and Exhibition Center, and Wuyuan Bay. The coast from Xiamen University to the Convention Center is known as the ‘Golden Coastline’.

The Island Ring Road is sparsely populated in the early morning or evening, with a comfortable temperature, making it perfect for cycling. It doesn’t matter where you start riding; any point can be the beginning. Just ride along the Island Ring Road. For many, cycling is a great way to relieve stress, not to mention the beautiful surroundings. Beside you, you can see the ocean, feel the sea breeze, and admire the roadside flora, making life feel wonderful even without seeking out specific attractions.

Recommended cycling routes on the Island Ring Road include: 1. Xiada Baicheng – Island South Road – Island East Road – Wuyuan Bay Bridge – Wuyuan Bay North Beach; 2. Xiada Baicheng – Hulishan Fort – Zengcuoan – Coconut Wind Village – Convention Center – Guanyin Mountain Beach – Wuyuan Bay. Among these, the section from Coconut Wind Village to the Convention Center is particularly scenic, taking about 40 minutes to ride. Of course, you can start from any point in between, as long as you bring a pleasant mood. Hulishan Fort is the starting point of the Island Ring Road wooden walkway. The bronze statue of a marathon runner is located on the lawn of Island East Road.

Opening hours are all day, every day. Must-see tips: 1. If cycling from Hulishan, it is recommended not to go beyond Coconut Wind Village, which is about ten kilometers from Hulishan to Coconut Wind Village. 2. Dining can be arranged in the Zengcuoan area, where there are many affordable food stalls and restaurants. If starting from Xiada Baicheng, meals can also be arranged near Xiamen University.
