Xiamen Old Courtyard Scenic Area - Cultural Tourism Destination

Xiamen Old Courtyard Scenic Area is a national 4A-level scenic spot, an investment of 1.3 billion yuan by Huaxia Cultural Tourism Group to create a cultural tourism masterpiece, including five parts: Old Courtyard Folk Culture Amusement Park, Live Performance ‘Legend of Southern Fujian’, ‘Naval Battle Clouds’, Penguin Dreamland, Hi Fun Sky Non-Powered Parent-Child Town, and Sky City Observation Tower.

The live performance ‘Naval Battle Clouds’ is based on a true historical story, narrating the story of Zheng Zhilong and Zheng Chenggong’s resistance against the Red Haired Barbarians; ‘Legend of Southern Fujian’ is integrated with the local customs and culture of Southern Fujian, allowing you to enjoy performances with strong Southern Fujian characteristics in six acts, including the birth of Xiamen Island, the exciting Zheng family army, the reluctance of parting in Nanyang, and the festive customs of marriage, among others.

Penguin Dreamland is a good place for parents to take their children out on weekends and also a place where you can see real penguins from Antarctica in Xiamen; Hi Fun Sky Non-Powered Parent-Child Town has a variety of free entertainment projects, which can be thrilling and exciting, as well as romantic and dreamy. Sky City Observation Tower is a new internet celebrity project opened in the scenic area in 2022, aiming to attract tourists who like thrilling challenges to experience the glass water slide and high-altitude swings on a 50-meter high platform.

Secondly, the Ice and Snow World is a place that allows you to experience the ice and snow scenery of the north, inviting you to travel through the ancient charm of the national style and the modern wonderful ice world. Here, ice sculpture art and oriental stories are integrated, with Zheng Chenggong’s ice sculpture standing in the ice and snow, as if telling the glory of history. The wall ice sculpture with the theme of carp and dragon carries the beautiful meaning of carp jumping over the dragon gate, symbolizing success and auspiciousness; the colorful ice brick wall shines under the light.

In the snow field, you can build snowmen, have snowball fights, catch snowballs, and roll in the snow, enjoying yourself. Thirdly, ‘Naval Battle Clouds’ is a large-scale immersive outdoor live performance at Xiamen Old Courtyard Scenic Area.
The performance is inspired by the true historical naval battle of Keluo Bay in 1633.

The regular performance is divided into three acts: ‘Wharf Incident’, ‘Street Skirmish’, and ‘Blood-Stained Island’, narrating the Dutch attempt to dominate maritime trade and force the Ming Dynasty government to submit through maritime plunder. Zheng and his son led the people of Southern Fujian to fight back against the Dutch, engaging in a fierce battle against the ‘Red-haired Barbarians’. Ultimately, they defeated the Dutch forces in Keluo Bay of Kinmen Island, reclaiming China’s maritime dominance, defending the territorial integrity of the Southern Fujian waters, and upholding the legendary patriotic story of the motherland’s unity. The entire performance lasts approximately forty minutes.

The performance combines walking situational drama, naval warfare drama, film stunt effects, and audience interaction into a high-fidelity restoration of the grand war scenes. Explosive, water explosion, film stunts, folk special skills, parkour fighting, high-altitude falls, aerial alley warfare, flying actors, sinking warships, and the manifestation of Mazu are among the performance elements that create thrilling scenes and audio-visual impact. The performance forms a comprehensive, multi-point, and entertaining travel cultural feast, bringing you a large-scale naval battle epic scenario on water, land, and air.

Hi-Fun Sky-High Parent-Child Town: The Hi-Fun Sky-High Parent-Child Town is a newly built outdoor amusement ecological circle in the Old Courtyard. Here, children can play with rainbow slides, bumper cars, water amusements, and other popular projects. They can also experience unpowered parent-child projects such as skywalk bridges, jungle adventures, tightrope walking, windmill slides, and ladybug parks, challenging their limits and exercising their balance, cooperation, and problem-solving abilities. The Hi-Fun Sky-High Parent-Child Town, loved by children, is known by many tourists as a ‘parent-child paradise’.

Sky City Observation Tower: The ‘Sky City Observation Tower’ project in the Old Courtyard covers an area of 650 square meters and is approximately 50 meters high, including glass water slides, cloud swings, and sky mirrors among many aerial amusements. Visitors can overlook the beautiful scenery of the Old Courtyard from the observation tower through the sky mirror under their feet, sit on the swinging experience in Xiamen, and experience exhilarating thrills as they rush down from a height of 50 meters, enjoying the beauty of the entire scenic area.

‘Minnan Legend’ Show: The ‘Minnan Legend’ show, a live performance that runs, is produced by Xia Chunting, the chairman of Huaxia Cultural Tourism Group, who serves as the chief planner, chief scriptwriter, and chief director. In the process of compiling the ‘Minnan Legend’ show, the essence of Minnan culture is integrated into the vast expanse of myth, folklore, and historical humanities, with touching moments, suspenseful scenes, and inheritable elements in every act.

The entire performance is divided into six acts: ‘Heavenly Created Egret Island’, ‘Island City Battle’, ‘Adventures in Nanyang’, ‘Fishing Village Life’, ‘Descendants of the Dragon’, and ‘Blessings for Huaxia’. With the purpose of being ‘good-looking, good-sounding, and fun’, it creates a performance that is accessible to the public, appreciated by all, and brings joy and satisfaction to the audience.

Experience a moving audience platform that transforms with the剧情’s essence of Minnan culture, immersing viewers in the midst of battle and dreamlike landscapes alike. The performance employs up to 47 inventions, featuring thrilling 10-story high diving, exhilarating water motorboat competitions, a grand 2000-ton waterfall descending from the sky, a 17-meter dragon rising from the water, and a 19-meter Mazu statue taking the stage, providing a suspenseful, shocking, exciting, and joyful super cultural entertainment experience.

Performance times for ‘Naval Battle’: Scene one ‘Wharf Incident’ at 10:30/16:00, at Fisherman’s Square; Scene two ‘Street Skirmish’ at 10:45/16:15, at Fisherman’s Square; Scene three ‘Blood-stained Island’ at 10:55/16:25, at Mazu Square.

Preferential policies: Elderly aged 70 and above with ID card enter for free, one adult can accompany one free entrant; those aged 60 to 69 with ID card receive discounts.
