Xiamen Old Courtyard Scenic Area is a national 4A-level attraction, a cultural tourism masterpiece invested 1.3 billion yuan by Huaxia Cultural Tourism Group. It comprises five parts: Old Courtyard Folk Culture and Customs Garden, live performance show ‘Minnan Legend’, ‘Naval Battle Clouds’, Penguin Dreamland, Hi-Sky Non-Powered Parent-Child Town, and Sky City Observation Tower.
The live performance ‘Naval Battle Clouds’ is based on a true historical story, narrating the tale of Zheng Zhilong and Zheng Chenggong’s resistance against the red-haired barbarians. The ‘Minnan Legend’ show integrates the local customs and culture, allowing you to enjoy a performance with strong Minnan characteristics through six acts, including the birth of Xiamen Island, the inspiring Zheng’s army, the reluctance of parting in Nanyang, and the joy of wedding customs, among others.
The performance is based on the real history of the Battle of Colo Bay in 1633. The regular performance is divided into three acts: “Troubles at the Dock”, “Street Fighting”, and “Bloodstained Island”. It tells the story that the Dutch attempted to dominate maritime trade and forced the Ming government to yield by means of maritime plundering. The Zheng family father and son led the people and soldiers in southern Fujian to fight back bravely. They fought a bloody battle against the Dutch and finally defeated the Dutch army in Colo Bay on Jinmen Island, regained China’s maritime dominance, defended the territorial integrity of the southern Fujian sea area, and safeguarded the unity of the motherland. The whole performance lasts about forty minutes. The performance combines walking scenario plays, water battle dramas, film and television special effects with audience interaction and participation, highly restoring the grand scenes of war. Performance elements such as explosions, water explosions, film and television special effects, folk unique skills, parkour fighting, high-altitude falls, empty street fighting, trapeze artists, sinking warships, and the appearance of Mazu make the scene thrilling and the audio-visual effect shocking. The performance forms a comprehensive, multi-point-of-interest, and drama-filled tourist and cultural feast, bringing you a large-scale sea battle epic scene drama covering land, water, and air. 4. Hi-Fun Non-Powered Parent-Child Town
The Hi-Fun Non-Powered Parent-Child Town is a newly created outdoor amusement ecological circle in the Old Courtyard. Here, children can play popular items such as rainbow slides, bumper cars, and water amusement facilities. They can also experience non-powered parent-child projects such as skywalk suspension bridges, jungle adventures, walking on tightropes skillfully, windmill slides, and ladybug parks, challenging their limits and exercising their balance, cooperation, and problem-solving abilities. The Hi-Fun Non-Powered Parent-Child Town, loved by children, is known as a “paradise for taking children” by many tourists. 5. Sky City Observation Tower
The “Sky City Observation Tower” project in the Old Courtyard covers a total area of 650 square meters and is about 50 meters high, including many aerial amusements such as glass water slides, cloud swings, and the Mirror of the Sky. Allows tourists to overlook the beautiful scenery of the Old Courtyard through the Mirror of the Sky under their feet on the observation tower, experience the thrill of sitting on the Xiamen swing, and rush down from a height of 50 meters along the water flow to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the entire scenic area. 6. The “Legend of Southern Fujian” Show
The running live performance – The “Legend of Southern Fujian” Show is the general planner, general screenwriter, and general director by Xia Chunting, the chairman of Huaxia Cultural Tourism Group. In the process of compiling the “Legend of Southern Fujian” Show, the essence of southern Fujian culture is integrated into the vastness of myths and legends, folk customs, and history and culture. There are touches in every scene, suspense in every show, and inheritance in every act. The whole performance is divided into six acts: “The Creation of Egret Island by Heaven”, “The Great Battle of the Island City”, “Adventures in Nanyang”, “Fishing Village Families”, “Descendants of the Dragon”, and “Blessing China”. With the purpose of “being good-looking, good-sounding, and fun”, it creates a performance that is for the public, suitable for both refined and popular tastes, well-received, and satisfying.
Ride on the “running” grandstand, which changes with the plot that reflects the essence of Minnan culture. The audience will sometimes feel like they are in the battlefield and sometimes be indulged in a dreamy beautiful scenery. During the normal performance, up to 47 inventions are used. There are also performances beyond human limits, such as a 10-story high-altitude diving, exciting water motorboat competitions, a magnificent scene of 2,000 tons of water pouring from the sky, a 17-meter dragon rising from the water, and a 19-meter Mazu ascending the stage one after another, bringing everyone a super cultural and entertainment experience full of suspense, shock, excitement and joy.
