Xiamen Round-the-Island Road is 43 kilometers long and 60 meters wide, with six lanes in both directions. The motor vehicle lane is 18 – 24 meters wide, the non-motor vehicle lane is 6 – 7 meters wide, the sidewalk is 6 – 8 meters wide, and the green belt is 80 – 100 meters wide.
The construction of Xiamen Round-the-Island Road is divided into the following stages:

– The section from Baicheng to Huangcuo started construction in February 1997 and was completed on September 8, 1998.

– The section from Huangcuo to Qianpu was completed on September 8, 1999.

– The section from the Convention and Exhibition Center to Xiangshan started construction in September 1999 and was completed in September 2000.

– The section from Xiangshan to Wutong was opened from May 2001 to December 2002.

– The section from Wutong to Gaoqi Airport will be opened during the 10th Five-Year Plan period.

The eastern part of the Round-the-Island Road faces the small Kinmen, Dadan, and Erdan islands, and has two major functions: transportation and tourism.

The construction of the Round-the-Island Road has always adhered to the principle of “seeing the sea when approaching the sea and leaving the beautiful beaches to the people”.

The beach along the Round-the-Island Road is a scenic belt for tourism in Xiamen. There is also a coastal sidewalk. The main scenic spots are concentrated at Baicheng Beach near Xiamen University. The beach there is delicate, the environment is beautiful, and it is especially beautiful at sunset.

Opening hours: It is open from 09:00 to 23:00 throughout the year.
