Xiandu Temple, also known as Zhao Hou Temple, Wu Shang Hou Temple, is one of the ancient temples in Jinyun Xiandu. The one enshrined here is Zhao Bing. Zhao Bing (1008 AD -?), a person in the Han Dynasty, was proficient in magic arts, advocated cleanliness and simplicity. He used water flowing eastward to worship the gods, peeled mulberry bark for sacrificial offerings, turned clear water into fine wine, and casually cut off an object with a knife to turn it into cooked meat.
Put clear water in a basin and you can see fish and dragons. When Zhao Bing traveled around Jinhua and Jinyun, the local area was in chaos due to war and a plague broke out. Zhao Bing healed the people and saved many lives. To commemorate him, the people built a temple for him here. After the emperor of the Han Dynasty learned of this, he conferred upon Zhao Bing the title of general and Marquis of Wushang. Marquis of Wushang is because at that time Jinyun Xiandu belonged to Wushang County. In Zhaoyin Cave and Shenyi Cave, there are also stone statues of eight ancient divine doctors from ancient times to the present, blessing people with peace, health and happiness. Qinglong Rock: There is a huge rock at the entrance of Zhao Hou Temple. It is shaped like a dragon’s mouth and is called Qinglong Rock. It confronts Dadu Rock across the road. On the west side of the rock is Tiyun Cave, which is the location of the ancient Changting in the Qin and Han Dynasties and also a must-pass road from Taizhou to Jinhua. On the east side of the rock are Shennong Cave and Zhaoyin Cave. Look, the dragon’s head, eyes, nose and mouth are misty and overlapping, very realistic. In ancient times, people believed in gods. When they came here, they threw coins to predict good omens. Hitting once is extremely auspicious. Hitting twice is for getting rich. Hitting three times is for safety. Swan Hatching Eggs: Opposite Zhaoyin Cave is a valley with a coiled stone dragon body. At the mouth of the valley are piled many extremely huge boulders. If you look into the valley from Zhao Houzhou, the upper part of this pile of stones is exactly like a swan. The stones at the lower part are smaller and shaped like bird eggs. People named it Swan Hatching Eggs according to its shape. If you enter the valley and stand under the stones, this pile of huge round egg-shaped stones is partially cracked and seems to be cut open by swords. So people call it Xianpo Rock or Cut Melon Stone. Here is also a cave with ventilation on three sides. It is warm in winter and cool in summer. Especially in the sweltering heat, the temperature difference between inside and outside is nearly 10 degrees. It is an excellent place for summer vacation. Film and television works such as ‘Two Patrolmen’, ‘Mo Ya Dai’, ‘Lianxin Dam’, ‘The Book and the Sword’, and ‘Ne Zha’ have all been filmed here.Opening hours: From January 1st to December 31st, open from 08:00 to 17:00.
