Xiangong Mountain is located in the northern suburbs of Quanzhou, not too far from the urban area. Here, you can not only climb the mountain to enjoy the scenery and get close to nature, but also the temples on the mountain are said to be very efficacious, attracting many tourists who come to worship and pray for blessings.
You can either walk up the mountain or take an aerial cable car for about 10 minutes (round-trip ticket costs 55 yuan). If you take the cable car up the mountain, you don’t need to buy the scenic area entrance ticket. The cable car operating hours are approximately from 8:00 to 16:00, which may be slightly adjusted according to the weather conditions. You can walk up the mountain throughout the day.
The Sunrise Viewing Platform at the peak is a great place to overlook the scenery. There is a large rock named “Nine Lions Gathering” beside it. Legend has it that those who can find 9 lions on it can become prime ministers.
Most of the scenic spots in the mountain are based on some stele inscriptions, strange rocks and caves, with artificially endowed legends. You can simply browse them during the climbing journey.
However, inside the small narrow gate of Fengshan Temple on the mountain, there is a two-meter-square rock with clear footprints that you can distinguish the five toes. It’s really quite wonderful. This fairy footprint is also the origin of the name and the aura of Xiangong Mountain. Tourists who come here must not miss it.
There are always many tourists who come to draw lots and interpret dreams in the temple. At the same time, it is also a good place to view the scenery of Xiangong Mountain.
