Xiangshan Revolutionary Memorial Hall covers an area of 2400 square meters with a construction area of 17985 square meters, featuring a two-story building structure made of cast-in-place reinforced concrete frames.
The first floor of the Memorial Hall includes thematic exhibition halls, an academic lecture hall, visitor rest areas, service areas, cultural and creative product zones, artifact storage rooms, a restaurant, and office spaces. The second floor is dedicated to the main序厅.
The south facade of the Memorial Hall is adorned with 28 colonnades, symbolizing the 28-year struggle of the Chinese Communist Party from its founding to the establishment of the People’s Republic of China.
The South Square, located outside the second floor’s south door, spans approximately 3600 square meters and serves as a ceremonial square, featuring a national flag and a flagpole standing at 19.49 meters high, used for significant commemorative and red education activities.
The main thematic hall on the second floor is designed in a circular layout, standing 8 meters high and covering 540 square meters. In the center of the序厅, stands the large sculpture ‘Comrades in Xiangshan’, with the background oil painting ‘Spring of Xiangshan’, which covers an area of 320 square meters. To the left of the sculpture is the relief ‘Crossing the River Campaign’, and to the right is the relief ‘Consulting on National Affairs’.
The Memorial Hall is styled in a new Chinese style, characterized by the preservation of two axes. The axes are oriented south to north, facilitating significant political events, with the east-west axis serving the South Square and first-floor public reception tasks.
The Memorial Hall incorporates new media art, using dynamic image videos to recreate history. The exhibition hall displays original films of ‘Xiyuan Airport Parade’ and ‘Founding Ceremony’ to the public. The ‘People Welcoming the PLA into the City’ is the first to adopt the ‘walk-in’ display format, allowing visitors to experience the feeling of welcoming the PLA into the city, with over 5000 sculpted figures spread over a distance of more than 10 meters. ‘Founding Ceremony’ uses holographic imaging technology to showcase the entire parade process through an LED screen with original images.
The Memorial Hall is open all year round from Tuesday to Sunday from 09:00 to 16:30; closed all day on Mondays; and open from 09:00 to 16:30 on New Year’s Day, Spring Festival, Qingming Festival, Labor Day, Dragon Boat Festival, Mid-Autumn Festival, and National Day.
