The Xianjingyuan Scenic Area is located in Wanggou Village on the east coast of Changdao County. It is built according to the legend of ‘fairy mountains on the sea’. It is famous for the unearthed human skull fossils dating back 2,500 years and hundreds of tombs. It is known as the first village in northern China. This is the place where emperors Qin and Han Wudi sought immortals and herbs. It is also the place where Emperor Tang Taizong stationed during his eastern expedition. In the scenic area, there are hundreds of tourist attractions such as relief sculptures of Emperor Tang Taizong’s eastern expedition, ancient city walls, pavilions, trestle bridges, Jiulong Cave, fishing platforms, and marine amusement parks. Entering the Xianjingyuan Scenic Area, you can watch the magnificent sunrise over the Yellow Sea in the east, look at the majestic sunset over the Bohai Sea in the west, overlook Laotieshan on the Liaodong Peninsula in the north, and look at the Penglai Pavilion where the Eight Immortals gather in the south. The sea, bay, beach, and reef in the scenic area are unparalleled. Tourists can fish, pick seaweed, touch snails, and pick up stone balls here. They can also play games, have picnics, and climb cliffs. Being here truly makes one understand the realm of the ‘peach blossom spring’ described by Tao Yuanming. It is said that Xianjingyuan is the place where the Eight Immortals live. Therefore, only by coming to Xianjingyuan can one possibly become an immortal.
