Xianlingshan Mountain, also known as ‘Pastoral Mountain’, is located 1 kilometer northeast of the suburbs. This is a cultural landscape tourist area in Yangshan County. Han Yu was demoted many times in his life. He was first demoted and served as the county magistrate of Yangshan. Although his tenure as the county magistrate in Yangshan was not long, it had a profound impact. According to the New History of the Tang Dynasty, he ‘had love for the people’ in Yangshan.
First, he brought Central Plains culture to Yangshan and promoted the intellectual enlightenment of the local people. Xianlingshan Mountain is named after Han Yu being a ‘virtuous magistrate’. The natural scenery of this mountain is very beautiful. The magical Chaoyang Cave, the winding One-Line Sky, and the exuberant Water Curtain Cave are created by nature and are fascinating. The Beishan Ancient Temple built in the Ming Dynasty is quiet and elegant, with lush trees.
