Xianren Village was originally named Zhuxi. According to legend, Zhang Boduan, a famous pharmacologist and the founder of the Southern School of Taoism in the Song Dynasty, jumped into Shifengxi from Baibuling and became an immortal. His body was found in the brook beside Zhuxi Village. To commemorate Zhang Boduan, this brook is called Xianren Brook, and the village name is also changed to Xianren Village.
