The Xiantao Cave is located in the Shaoxing East Lake scenic area. The cave is in the mountain. There is a lake in the cave. Having a door in the cave is a notable characteristic of the Xiantao Cave. In legend, the Queen Mother of the West once planted a celestial peach tree here. To prevent the celestial peach from being stolen, she sent heavenly generals to guard here. The heavenly general’s chair is above the stone gate and is in a hollowed-out shape.
Also, because the entrance of the cave is shaped like a peach, it is named ‘Xiantao Cave’. Tao Junxuan, a famous scholar in the Qing Dynasty, inscribed a couplet on both sides of the cave entrance. The upper couplet is ‘Five hundred feet deep into the cave and no bottom in sight.’ The lower couplet is ‘The peach blossoms once every three thousand years.’ Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:00.Xiantao Cave
