Xiao Dongjiang is located within the Dongjiang Lake Tourism Area in Chenzhou, Hunan Province. From April to October each year, when the sun rises and sets, mist ascends from Xiao Dongjiang, creating a hazy and ethereal landscape that draws tourists from all over. Remarkably, the reflections of green mountains and white clouds in the river are incredibly clear. In the evening, the beauty of the swirling mist, complemented by pleasant music and soft lighting, creates a very atmospheric experience.
The Xiao Dongjiang Mist Viewing Boardwalk is an ideal spot to observe the mist and watch fishermen casting their nets. Situated along the riverbank, the boardwalk allows visitors to stroll while admiring the river’s scenery. When the river mist envelops the area, even the reeds by the riverbank add to the overall ambiance.
The scenic boardwalk spans approximately 12 kilometers, composed of Bridges 1 through 5, with Bridges 2 and 3 being particularly favored by tourists and photography enthusiasts. Operating hours are 08:00-17:30 from November 1st to March 31st; and 07:00-18:00 from April 3rd to October 31st.
