Xiaoyushan Park is one of the best scenic viewing spots in Qingdao. First, because it is located in the city center and is the mountain closest to the sea in Qingdao, with a superior geographical location. Second, because its altitude is only 60 meters, climbing it is not tiring. When reaching the top of the mountain, you can see the most representative scenery of Qingdao, ‘red tiles, green trees, blue sea and blue sky’.

At the top of Xiaoyushan Mountain, there is a three-story octagonal pavilion, Lanchao Pavilion, which is 18 meters high and topped with green glazed tiles. Climbing up the pavilion along the spiral staircase for sightseeing, in the vicinity are German-style buildings with red tiles and yellow walls hidden among the green trees. Looking southeast, you can see the golden sand of the First Bathing Beach connected to the blue sea.

Looking northeast, you can see the Qingdao TV Tower on Taiping Mountain. Looking west on a fine day, you can distinguish Xiaoqingdao Island and Zhanqiao Bridge in the distance. Looking north, you can take a panoramic view of the Signal Hill Park. The Yingbin Building on the mountainside of Signal Hill and the three red-roofed mushroom buildings on the top are clearly visible. At night, you can take pictures of the night view of Qingdao on the mountain.

To the west of Lanchao Pavilion is the hexagonal pavilion, Bibo Pavilion. To the east is the quadrangular pavilion, Yongcui Pavilion. Both are also topped with green glazed tiles and can be used for sightseeing. On the front of the winding corridor connecting Lanchao Pavilion and Yongcui Pavilion, there is a white relief. The modern characters ‘Xiao’ (small), ‘Shan’ (mountain), and the ancient pictograph ‘Yu’ (fish) form the mountain logo of Xiaoyushan.

You can take a photo with it. Beside the mountain logo, there are also beautiful murals. In addition, on the south slope of Xiaoyushan, there are miniature models that bring together Qingdao’s buildings. If you are interested, you can also take a look. There are many scenic spots near Xiaoyushan Park, basically all along the coastline. To the west, you can follow the route of Zhanqiao Bridge – Naval Museum – Xiaoqingdao Island – Lu Xun Park – Xiaoyushan Park for sightseeing.

To the east, you can visit Kang Youwei’s Former Residence, the First Bathing Beach, Badaguan, and finally go to Taipingjiao to watch the sunset. Opening hours: Open all year round from 06:00 to 20:00.
