The Seaside Promenade in Zhanjiang is one of the eight scenic spots in Zhanjiang. The promenade is divided into two sections: the Seaside Promenade in Jinshawan, Chikan and the Seaside Promenade in Xiashan. The Xiashan Seaside Promenade is home to two cast copper sculptures created by Chen Rijun, a famous sculptor in our city. The sculptures show the sea life in Zhanjiang. Zhanjiang, Guangdong is the location of the South Sea Fleet. The Xiashan Seaside Promenade in Zhanjiang is just opposite the military port. The mighty warships of the South Sea Fleet are like dashing guards, adding brightness to the coast.
The Seaside Promenade was completed in 1999. It starts from Haidian Road in the south and ends at Haiyang Road in the north, with a total length of about 1.7 kilometers. According to its terrain status, it is divided into three areas: south, middle and north (860 meters in the south area, 150 meters in the middle area, and 690 meters in the north area). The total area is 156 hectares. From an overall perspective, the south, middle and north areas are slender in shape. The middle area drives the south and north wings. The total hard pavement area reaches 100,000 square meters. The Seaside Promenade presents a southern scenery and a unique coastal city landscape. The giant passenger ship ‘Sea City’ parked on the sea of the Seaside Promenade is also a major landscape.
