Xidafu Waterfall

Located in the Yanhu Scenic Area, Xidafu Waterfall is situated to the right of the Xishiliang Cave. Upon ascending to the cave entrance, one can immediately hear the thunderous sound of the waterfall. The waterfall cascades down a cliff approximately 160 meters high, clinging to the steep rock face and splashing against the stones midway, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of water droplets resembling countless shining pearls. The sound of the water is a constant, roaring rush.
At times, the falling water appears like a series of large stones tumbling into the pool, creating a loud, echoing sound. The circular deep pool directly beneath the waterfall is known as the Upper Pool or Xidafu Pool. When the waterfall crashes into the pool, it not only produces a deafening sound but also displays a boiling-like effect with the rolling waves.

When the Upper Pool is full, the water flows southwestward, then turns southward, eventually reaching the Lower Pool. The Lower Pool is large and shallow, with clear waters revealing the bottom and countable schools of fish. Xu Xiake, a famous traveler, wrote in his travel notes, “Its height is second only to Longqiu, and it seems more majestic and superior, hence it is not the second-tier among the mountains.” The waterfall is open all year round, accessible 24/7, with specific business hours subject to daily operation conditions.
