Xidong, also known as ‘Fairy Cave’, is one of the main scenic spots in Nanyandang Mountain. At the entrance, there is a huge rock, 33 meters high, 50 meters wide and about 4 meters thick. On it are engraved four large characters ‘Southeast Barrier’, known as ‘Stone Skylight’. Xidong is dedicated to Fairy Zhu. The fairy’s name is Chanyuan. She was from Naocun Village in the Southern Song Dynasty. At the age of sixteen, she became a Taoist nun and lived in seclusion in this stone cave for ‘twenty years of bigu’. She often picked herbs to cure people’s illnesses. The medicine was effective immediately. Later, her whereabouts were unknown. People built a Taoist temple at the cave entrance to commemorate her. The cave is 18 meters high, 44 meters wide and 29 meters deep. There is a seven-room, three-story pavilion, and most of the buildings are connected to the cave. The third floor of the inner cave is the front section, with the inscription ‘Daluo Baodian’. There is a small square pool that accumulates waterfall beads. The clear water is full and clear and sweet. There are also Eighteen Jinshi Cave, Serial Cave and so on. The dripping rock drips water all year round and does not dry up in dry days. The specific business hours are subject to the opening situation on that day.
