The Xie Family Courtyard is located at No. 2, Lane 2, Taihualou, Daomenkou, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. It is the residence of Xie Yicheng, a famous cloth merchant in the late Qing Dynasty in Chongqing. It is a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit. The Xie Family Courtyard has a construction area of more than 2,000 square meters and is a valuable historical and cultural relic building.
The house has four entrances. As soon as you enter, you will have the feeling of ‘a nobleman’s residence is as deep as the sea’. The two sides of the house have two floors. The hall is nearly 10 meters high. The corridor pillars in the house are all painted in festive vermilion. The door beams and eaves are carved in relief and pasted with gold thread and gold foil. Cultural relic experts say that the owner of the Xie family is an enlightened gentry.
