Xieshan Park is located on Xieshan beside Huangpu Avenue on the west side of Huangpu Old Port. The park is named ‘Xieshan’ because its geological environment is a typical Danxia landform and the rocks resemble big red crabs. The park was built in 1932 and is one of the earlier parks in Huangpu District. The park has rich historical and cultural connotations. There are the ruins of Xieshan Fort and corridor built in 1885 (the 11th year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty). To commemorate the ‘Yongfeng Ship’ Guangzhou distress event in 1924, Xieshan was opened as a park. There is an octagonal pavilion and a square pavilion in the park, both of which are European-style pavilions. The main tourist attractions in the park include: the mountain top historical site memorial area, Hundred Steps Ladder, stone scenic area, Midway Pavilion, South Gate Square scenic area, and King Temple platform scenic area. The park is shaded by green trees. The azaleas and Ixora are charming in color. Opening hours: 06:30 – 21:00 from January 1st to December 31st.
