Xihoumen Bridge is a technologically demanding extra-large sea-crossing bridge among the five bridges of the Zhoushan Bridge Island Linking Project. It spans the Xihoumen waterway, connecting the islands of Cezi and Jintang. The main bridge is a continuous steel box girder suspension bridge with a main span of 1650 meters and an approach bridge of 900 meters, making it one of the largest steel box girder suspension bridges in the world.
The scenic area is adjacent to the international shipping lane, Xihoumen waters. Xihoumen channel is renowned as a fast-flowing region in China, with a local saying, ‘It’s easy to be a ship captain, but hard to pass Xihoumen,’ which illustrates the swiftness of the water currents. The Xihoumen waters have always been abundant in mullet fish, allowing visitors to taste the authentic ‘Ten Ways to Eat Mullet Fish.’
The scenic area currently has six viewing platforms, each offering a different perspective to appreciate the grandeur and elegance of Xihoumen Bridge.
