Xihuang Temple is located in the middle section of Huangsi Road outside Andingmen, Chaoyang District, Beijing. It is also known as Huangsi or Shuanghuangsi together with Donghuang Temple. The temple was built in the eighth year of Shunzhi in the Qing Dynasty. It integrates Tibetan, Han, and Indian architectural arts and can be regarded as a treasure of the architectural art of Tibetan Buddhist royal temples.

It is a secret place on an equal footing with the Lama Temple. Previously, only lamas could enter and exit here. Tourists could only visit the exterior. After 300 years, it is finally open to the public. Xihuang Temple is divided into three courtyards. All are covered with yellow glazed tiles. With red walls, green pines, and towering stupas, it has an extraordinary momentum. The first courtyard has buildings such as the mountain gate hall, bell and drum towers, and east-west annex buildings.

The second courtyard has buildings such as the hanging flower gate and east-west meditation rooms. The third courtyard has buildings such as the main hall, the Qingjing Huacheng Pagoda, the stele pavilion with imperial inscriptions by Emperor Qianlong, east-west meditation rooms, and Huixiang Pavilion. Behind the main hall in the temple is a stone pagoda, namely the Qingjing Huacheng Pagoda. The stone pagoda is built on a stone base more than 3 meters high.

The stone base is in the shape of a Chinese character ‘ya’. It is surrounded by white stone railings. There is a pagoda pillar at each of the four corners of the platform base, and the main tower is in the middle. The main tower is 15 meters high and is a ‘white pagoda’ of Tibetan Buddhism. It is composed of the top, the tower body, and the tower base. The tower base is octagonal. On it is an octagonal Sumeru pedestal.

Each of the eight sides is embossed with patterns such as curly grass, lotus petals, clouds, and bats. The carving is extremely exquisite.
