Lubao Ancestral Temple, formerly known as Xijiang Ancestral Temple. It is located in the northern suburb of Lubao Town, backed by Longpo Mountain and facing the Beijiang River. It is a temple integrating Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism. It was first built during the Jiading period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1208 – 1228). It has a history of about 800 years and has a long history. Among the three temples, the Beidi Temple is the main temple in the middle. On the left is the Guanyin Temple and on the right is the Wenchang Temple. Both have front and back halls. Although they have gone through many vicissitudes, the decorations such as pottery sculptures, wood carvings, brick carvings, grey carvings, stone carvings and wall paintings in the temple are still magnificent and exquisite, lifelike. In particular, the pottery sculpture of ‘two dragons playing with a pearl’ on the ridge of the Beidi Temple is beautifully shaped and dazzling. The wall paintings are exquisitely painted and vividly vivid, and can be regarded as the essence of ancient architectural murals in Lingnan. Beside the steps of the Beidi Temple, there is an ancient well called ‘Jinsha Sacred Well’. It is said that the water from Jinsha Sacred Well was once used as a tribute. It is warm in winter and cool in summer and does not rot for a long time. The ancestral temple has been repaired many times in the Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties. Especially after the renovations in the 13th year of Jiaqing in the Qing Dynasty (1808) and the 14th year of Guangxu (1888), this temple is even more magnificent and full of the aura of heaven and earth. There are many pilgrims. Huashan Temple, which is as famous as Xijiang Ancestral Temple, is located on the right side of the ancestral temple. It was originally named ‘Huaxu Ancient Brahma’. It was rebuilt in 1994 according to its original appearance.
