Xikou-Tengtou Tourist Scenic Area

Xikou, along the wide Shanxi River and relying on Xuedou Mountain, which is outstanding with waterfalls and streams, has become a popular tourist destination. Nowadays, the Xikou scenic area includes two major scenic spots, Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek and Xuedou Mountain. It is worth spending 1-2 days to explore. There are two ticket offices in the scenic area, one at Wuling Gate in Xikou Town (at the entrance of the Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek), and the other at the tourist distribution center at the junction of the two scenic areas in the west.

The tourism supporting facilities in the Xikou scenic area are very complete. There is a green tourist bus shuttling between Xikou passenger station, Wuling Gate and tourist distribution center. To go to the Xuedou Mountain scenic area, you can take a bus to the tourist distribution center and transfer to a green sightseeing bus (included in the Xuedou Mountain scenic area and the unified ticket, unlimited rides) to Sanyin Pool, and then start the tour of Xuedou Mountain.

Itinerary arrangement: If you are coming to Xikou for the first time, it is recommended to arrange two days. A relatively recommended itinerary is: arrive at Xikou at noon on the first day. After lunch, visit Xuedou Mountain and Xuedou Temple in the mountain. Stay overnight in Xikou Town in the evening. On the second morning, go to the Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek. In the afternoon, go to Jiangmu Cemetery.

Xuedou Mountain strategy: It takes about half a day to play in Xuedou Mountain. The very eye-catching natural landscapes on the mountain are the streams and pools of Sanyin Pool and the waterfall of Qianzhangyan. Starting from Sanyin Pool, visit the upper, middle and lower pools in turn (about 2 hours). Then return along the same route and take a sightseeing bus to the transfer station in Xuedou Mountain to visit Qianzhangyan and Miaogaotai scenic spots.

After Miaogaotai is the conventional tourist trail, all the way downhill, very easy to walk. It won’t take long to walk to Xuedou Temple at the foot of the mountain. The temple is relatively new and can be roughly seen. There is an open-air Buddha here that is very eye-catching. Many tourists ‘hold Buddha’s feet’ here to seek peace. There is also a green sightseeing bus stop at the entrance of Xuedou Temple.

Just take the bus back to the town.

This arrangement is a relatively reasonable way to play in Xuedou Mountain. It can not only enjoy the attractions on the mountain, but also go downhill all the way without retracing your steps.

Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek strategy: Start visiting the Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek scenic area from Wuling Gate in the morning on the second day. The main scenic spots here are arranged along Wuling Road pedestrian street by Shanxi River. Just walk and visit. It is worth seeing Wuling School, Small Western-style House and Wenchang Pavilion near the entrance. Among them, Wenchang Pavilion is on Wushan Mountain and was once the villa of Chiang Kai-shek and Soong May-ling.

Now there are paintings of Soong May-ling hanging there. In addition, Fenghaofang near Jingtang Road is where Mr. Chiang and Mao Fumei got married. The plaques, couplets, carvings and sculptures inside are also worth paying attention to. Yutai Salt Shop in the west is the place where Mr. Chiang was born. There are two characters ‘Qinglu’ engraved on the lintel. It should be noted that some small paths in the scenic area lead to the outside streets.

Be careful not to go out of the scenic area during the tour. The ticket can only be used once. Jiangmu Cemetery is at the junction of the two scenic areas and is included in the ticket of the Former Residence of Chiang Kai-shek scenic area.
The cemetery consists of Jiang’s Mother’s Grave Pathway and Azalea Valley, with beautiful scenery. At the entrance, there is a tomb hut, once the residence of Mr.

Jiang, with his calligraphy couplets, now a small exhibition room. The carvings on Jiang’s Mother’s Grave Pathway are exquisite, and Azalea Valley offers a broad view, with lush forests and lawns that are refreshing to the mind and spirit.
