Ximen Island, located in the Yandu Town of Yueqing, is situated in the northern part of Yueqing Bay. The cool sea breeze and delicious seafood are among the top three highlights for summer retreat on the island.
Ximen Island is now a special marine protection area, primarily safeguarding mangroves, precious birds, and coastal wetland environments. The island is home to endangered species such as the Black-faced Spoonbill, Black-faced Gull, and the Yellow-billed Heron, which is a second-class protected animal in China, as well as the Spot-billed Pelican and a multitude of wetland waterfowl.
Seafood is an integral part of island life. The cultivation of shellfish such as razor clams and ark clams is well-known here, and seafood like the swimming crab is also in season. With the convergence of the Yandu mountains and seawater, and less pollution in the surrounding areas, visitors to Ximen Island often come to enjoy the harbor views, the sea breeze, and the taste of seafood. The island is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
