The Xin Qiji Memorial Shrine, also known as ‘Jiaxuan Shrine’, is located on the west side of Xiayuan on the south bank of Daming Lake. It is a classical three-entry courtyard covering an area of 1,400 square meters. It was built in memory of Xin Qiji, a patriotic hero and bold ci poet in the Southern Song Dynasty. Facing south, it has two courtyards and is in the form of folk house architecture. In the middle of the gate hangs the plaque ‘Xin Jiaxuan Memorial Shrine’. On the east and west sides are Xin Qiji’s ci works with paintings. On both sides of the waist-high door are covered corridors. The main hall has a vaulted roof. In front of the hall, there is a couplet on the pillar: ‘With iron plate and copper lute, following Su Dongpo’s resounding chant of ‘The Great River Flows Eastward’; with beautiful celery and mournful millet, hoping the Southern Song Dynasty not to follow the wild geese flying south.’ In the middle of the hall is a statue of Xin Qiji. Display cases exhibit his life story, representative works in various editions, and relevant research materials and works. Opening hours: Open all year round from 08:00 to 17:30.
