Xinglong Tropical Garden is located at the foot of Qingmei Mountain in Wanning Xinglong Hot Spring Resort City, Hainan Province, and is a large-scale comprehensive scenic area that integrates nature, culture, gardens, and ecological protection. The garden, which began construction in 1992, covers an area of 5,800 acres. It features various sightseeing areas including tropical plant viewing areas, tropical rainforest viewing areas, biological nursing areas, reconstructed tropical rainforest areas (celebrity tree-planting areas), horticultural viewing areas, and forest camping areas.


The garden is rich in biodiversity with lush tropical rainforests, and has preliminarily restored the biodiversity of the region, creating a beneficial ecological environment. It combines nature, culture, agriculture, gardens, and environmental protection, and serves as a destination for tourism, leisure, and scientific education, representing the combination of tropical rainforests and artificial gardens. It is known as the ‘kingdom’ of tropical plants and a treasure trove for rare and endangered plants.


The garden has planted hundreds of thousands of tropical ornamental plants, including 65 rare and endangered species, 27 of which are listed in the ‘Red Book of Chinese Plants’, and 8 rare and endangered plants have been introduced and cultivated. Many plants that were on the brink of extinction have been protected, propagated, and formed communities in their new locations.
