Xingtong Park in Linyi, Shandong, was established to commemorate the historical and cultural figure Xing Tong from Linyi. Xing Tong, styled Ziyuan, was a native of Xingliuxing Village in Linyi and a Jinshi during the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty. He served as the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of War Horses before resigning and returning to his hometown to build a ‘garden’ and ‘Laiqin Pavilion’ as a place for reading. Xing Tong’s calligraphy was inspired by the ‘Two Wangs’ (Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi), and he engraved the ‘Laiqin Pavilion Posts’ (one of the top ten famous posts in China) and authored the ‘Laiqin Pavilion Collection’ (included in the Siku Quanshu), eventually becoming a cultural celebrity of his time. The pavilion is a replica of Ming Dynasty architecture, covering an area of 2,070 square meters.

The park is divided into two main parts: water and land, and is further divided into six sections: public activity area, senior activity area, children’s activity area, sports activity area, cultural memorial area, and special plant bonsai area. Inside the Xing Tong Memorial Hall, there are precious ink traces of Xing Tong and ancient carvings, as well as the Yugui Pavilion, which houses works by the famous calligrapher and painter Song Yugui.

Additionally, the park features leisure and entertainment facilities such as morning exercise squares, music squares, citizen stages, tennis courts, and gateball courts, which not only have high appreciation value but also rich cultural significance. Currently, this park has become a symbol of the new image of Linyi in Dezhou. From 1992 to 1994, three consecutive Xing Tong Calligraphy Art Festivals were held here, and in 1997, a symposium on the calligraphy, painting, and poetry of Xing Tong and Xing Ci Jing (Xing Tong’s sister) was held. The opening hours and business status are subject to the actual opening conditions on the day.
