Xingye Hot Spring is situated in Tangyuan Village, Baisha Town, Minhou County, Fujian Province. The hot spring emerges from the volcanic rocks of the Upper Jurassic Nan Yuan Formation. There are three visible outlets of the hot spring, surrounded by 200 square meters of travertine deposits. The water temperature is 57 degrees Celsius, with a daily flow rate of 207.4 tons, a heat output of 132 kcal/second, and a total mineralization of 250 mg/L.
Historically, this location was a necessary path for scholars traveling to the capital for imperial examinations. Dignitaries from ancient times also visited to soak in the hot springs. During the Song Dynasty, a particular emperor’s visit added to its long-standing history and fame. The hot spring is renowned for its unique sulfuric properties.
