Nantan Areca Forest in Wuyi Qiaoxiang is located on Nantan Island, Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, and it preserves over 1,500 acres of areca palm forests. At the beginning of the 21st century, experts have pointed out that this is the only areca palm forest in the world and also the unique large-scale and century-old areca palm forest in China.
Nantan Island, situated to the southwest of Huicheng, covers an area of nearly a thousand hectares and is an alluvial island in the Tan River basin. The climate is mild, the land is fertile, and it is suitable for the growth of tropical and subtropical evergreen trees. However, Nantan Island is particularly known for its abundance of areca palms. The vast areca palm forests cover most of the island’s land, and from a bird’s-eye view, Nantan Island resembles an emerald green jade inlaid in the Xinhui landscape. The opening hours are all-year round, with the entire day open, and the specific business status is subject to the day’s opening conditions.
