Xinlian Village is located in the southern mountainous area of Shaoxing County, in the north of Wangtan Town, and is one of the upper reaches of Xiaoshun River. It boasts lush green mountains and clear waters, with a beautiful natural ecological environment, making it an ideal place to live.
Situated in Xinlian Village, Wangtan Town, the Taoyuan Ridge Ancient Path, also known as ‘Taoyan Ridge Ancient Path’, has over 1400 stone steps and is more than 2 meters wide. Within the mountains, there are rugged boulders, towering ancient trees, and a quiet ancient path. At the top of the ridge, there is a perennial spring that never dries up. During the Southern Dynasties, Qi and Liang periods, Tao Hongjing, a Taoist thinker and medical scholar, once lived in seclusion here. In the Song Dynasty, Lu You’s grandfather, Zu Cheng Lu Dian, also lived in seclusion here, building a pavilion to write books, and Lu You visited many times. Song Jiangzuo Jiancheng Wang Xiuzhu built a temple for the sage Lu You on this ridge. Taoyuan Ridge was once an ancient passage from Shaoxing to Wangtan and Sheng County. Although it is no longer a traffic artery, it is well preserved and has become a very ancient and unfamiliar ancient path. During holidays, it is a great place to climb the ancient path with friends, visit historical sites, enjoy the morning breeze and the waning moon, and taste farmhouse cuisine.
