The Xinyi Fang pedestrian street in Hangzhou is located in Maiyuqiao, Gongshu District, Hangzhou. It starts from Hushu Road in the east and ends at Moganshan Road in the west. It is built along both banks of the Yuhangtang River, with a total length of 500 meters. The pedestrian street draws on the model of ancient riverside market streets in the south of the Yangtze River. It is designed to be built along both banks of the Yuhangtang River.
In the form of eight building units with the characteristics of traditional Chinese cultural architecture, it unfolds to the east and west. It connects Hushubei Road and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the east and Moganshan Road in the west. The total length is about 500 meters and the total construction area is more than 20,000 square meters. Waterside pavilions, squares, gazebos, corridors, sculptures, etc. are built between the buildings facing the street. The pedestrian street is 16 meters wide. On the street side, there is a 3-meter-wide arcade, and on the side along the river, some parts of the building extend into the river. The two banks are connected by three ancient bridges with distinctive features: Luting Bridge, Caoying Bridge, and Guijin Bridge, forming a unique landscape of ‘there is a river on the street and a street on the river’. There is a cruise ship dock on the west side of the river. People can take a boat tour after shopping, and a beautiful picture of Jiangnan style unfolds before their eyes.
