Located in the southeast of Pingyang County, it is 10.5 kilometers away from Kunyang, the county seat of Pingyang County, and 57.5 kilometers away from Wenzhou. The scenic area can be divided into five major scenic spots from south to north: Yangyu Mountain, Ersha, Xigu Warehouse, Xiwan, and Tiaotou. The main features of Xiwan Scenic Area are many bays, wide beaches, secluded caves, and densely covered reefs. The more prominent ones are the marine erosion coastal scenery and mountain streams and waterfalls. Marine erosion coastal scenery: Along the 16.5-kilometer coastline are covered with reefs and tidal flat beaches. After being washed by seawater and naturally weathered, the reefs have clear layers and textures and rich colors, and have formed strangely shaped and changeable reef landscapes.
The muddy beach in Xiwan is large in area and fine and soft in texture. The beaches are close to each other. The mountainside stones are often cliffs, nearly thirty or forty meters high. On the flat muddy flat and beach, there are densely and sparsely covered various types of reefs ranging in size from stalagmite-like to thirty or forty meters. The combination of beach and reef is ingenious. At low tide, in front of the beach is an endless tidal flat, and behind it is a cliff. Reefs are scattered among the beaches. It is a good place for primary and middle school students to visit and play. It is also a good place for tourists to watch the tide and catch small seas. Mountain streams and waterfalls: There are two groups of mountain stream waterfalls on the mountain close to the sea. One group is the Yinquan Waterfall, which is 6 meters wide and has a drop of more than 100 meters. The other group is the Longtan Waterfall, which is a three-tiered waterfall with a drop of 50 meters. The water flow is continuous all year round, accompanied by many deep pools and secluded valleys. This kind of seaside mountain stream waterfall is also very rare in other places. Cultural landscapes: Twelve beacon towers are still well preserved in the scenic area, which is one of the places where many beacon towers are preserved in the Wenzhou area. Climbing Yangyu Mountain, you can see five beacon towers at the head of Sisha Ridge. These are the relics of people along the coast in the Ming Dynasty fighting against Japanese pirates. In a Huang’s ancestral hall in Xiwan, there is a 120-jin broadsword preserved. It is the weapon used by Huang Chengxian, an ancestor of the Huang family and a martial arts student. Although it is covered with rust, it still maintains its original style. In addition, Xiwan has rich tidal flat resources. The exposed tidal flat area is nearly more than 80,000 mu. Traditional tidal flat operations such as dragging boards and flying on the tidal flat are the tools for fishermen in Xiwan to work on the tidal flat. Now it has also become a tourist attraction activity full of fisherman characteristics that attracts tourists and allows them to participate.
