The owner of the thatched cottage is Feng Mengzhen, a famous literati in the Ming Dynasty. The entire group of buildings is divided into two parts, north and south, by the fish pond. The south side is the main house, a two-story building. There is a courtyard in front and one at the back. On the north side, there is a thatched pavilion called ‘Qiyun Pavilion’, which is a place for enjoying plum blossoms, playing with bamboo, drinking and singing. The thatched cottage is characterized by its secluded environment and far-reaching scenery: on the east side, the embankment is lush and the viewing corridor is far-reaching. On the north side, there are wild grass and shoals, with the simple and wild beauty of wetlands. On the west side, it is stacked and connected to the embankment, leading tourists’ sight to the distant sparse persimmon groves and strip-shaped cogongrass, presenting another kind of far-reaching charm.
