The planning adheres to six core principles: ‘ecology first, minimal intervention, restoration like the old, cultural emphasis, human-oriented, and sustainable development’. It fundamentally focuses on protecting and improving the regional ecological environment. With the essence of Wuchang water town culture and Hong family culture, four major ‘villages’ (functional areas) have been successively established: the Wuchang Folk Culture Village, the Xixi Public Rest Village, the Xixi Agricultural Culture Village, and the Xixi Art Collective Village.

The total area is 3.3 square kilometers, and it now includes famous attractions such as Hong Family Ancestral Hall, Opera Corridor, and Dongguan Lotus Pond. It is a national wetland park that integrates urban, agricultural, and cultural wetlands. The park is open all year round from 08:30 to 17:30.
