Xiying Pavilion is located near the shore of the West Lake’s south line, at the northern end of Changqiao, facing the rebuilt Leifeng Pagoda across the lake.
There is a couplet on the pavilion’s columns that reads: ‘The golden pagoda shines anew in the evening sun; a touch of slanting sun casts a shadow on Leifeng.’
On clear days, the area around Xiying Pavilion often features a line of tripods, creating a perfect scene of Leifeng’s sunset.
The pavilion is open all year round and accessible 24 hours a day.
