Xu Family Village is located in Zhangxing Town, Zhaoyuan City, surrounded by mountains on three sides. During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the Xu family came here to settle, hence the name Xu Family Village. It is one of the largest, well-preserved ancient villages in the Jiaodong region with a complete variety of historical buildings, preserving an indescribable simplicity and rustic charm.
The village retains 79 residential buildings from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Ming Dynasty, with Xu Tianhua’s Siheyuan as the paragon. Xu Tianhua’s Siheyuan is a combination of Beijing, Northeastern, and Jiaodong styles, with exquisite carvings, beautifully stacked stones, and intricately constructed beams and eaves, embodying the rich traditional architectural art at every turn.
