Longkou Xu Fu Town, historically known as Xu Township County, is the birthplace of Xu Fu, a magician from the Qin Dynasty. Some of Xu Fu’s historical sites still exist, such as the ruins of the Yellow River Camp ancient port, Qi Mu Cave, and Xu’s Mother’s Tomb.
The Xu Fu Town now features a Xu Gong Temple, which is situated against Qian Mountain, where Emperor Xuan of Han once worshipped, and faces Laishan, the location of one of the eight major shrines of Qi, the Moon God Temple, covering an area of 6,600 square meters. The entire structure consists of four parts: the temple gate, east and west side halls, and the main hall, striving to reflect the architectural characteristics and style of the Qin era. Inside the main hall, there is a statue of Xu Fu, vividly lifelike, holding bamboo slips, with slightly furrowed brows and vigilant eyes, as if he is full of military and civil strategies. On the left stands a young boy with a sword, and on the right, a young girl with a medicine gourd, accompanying and protecting him as he searches for the immortal mountain in the sea and gathers the elixir of life. Visitors to Xu Gong Temple can almost feel as if they have returned to the Qin Dynasty over 2,000 years ago, experiencing the social customs of that time. The temple is open year-round from 7:30 AM to 6:30 PM.Xu Fu’s Hometown
