The Xu Guangqi Memorial Hall is housed in the ‘Nanchun Huating’, a building from the Hongzhi era of the Ming Dynasty, which was relocated here from its original site in Meilong Dongxiang in 2003. The statue that once stood in front of Xu Guangqi’s tomb has also been moved inside the hall.

The main hall is divided into two sections, featuring a screen wall, stele corridors, wing rooms, a hall, and a backyard, all arranged in the style of the Ming Dynasty.

The memorial hall exhibits the life of Xu Guangqi, ‘Complete Works on Agriculture’ and ‘Elements of Geometry’, ‘Chongzhen Calendar’ and ‘Xu’s Kitchen Talk’, and Xu Guangqi’s connection with Shanghai, displaying four thematic exhibits. The collection includes watercolor portraits of Xu Guangqi, Matteo Ricci, Adam Schall, and Ferdinand Verbiest created by the Tushanwan Art Gallery in 1913, as well as Matteo Ricci’s ‘Complete Map of the World’, one of the earliest world maps introduced to China.
