This exhibition utilizes a series of cutting-edge technologies such as mechanical structures, automated processing, and programming to narrate and approach the boundary between the virtual and the real from the artist’s personalized perspective. In contrast to similar projects discussing the ‘virtual boundary,’ which often highlight advanced technology’s significant centrifugal force from everyday life, Xu Jinlong’s creations tend to submerge the sharp edge of technology within classic simple mechanical structures, such as gears, levers, and hinges. By combining basic geometric principles and patterns like parabolic Archimedes’ spirals, he constructs an ‘object mystery’ that can be observed, described, and even influenced. The exhibition is open from December 1st to January 11th, with specific business hours subject to the daily opening status.
