This is the brief post-marital residence of Xu Zhimo, a renowned modern Chinese poet, essayist, and the spiritual leader of the Crescent School, and Lu Xiaoman. The former residence was built in 1926 and is a small Western-style building that combines Chinese and Western architectural styles.
The construction area of the former residence is 600 square meters, with two main sections and a three-room, two-story main building, featuring east and west wing buildings at the front. The rear building also has three rooms, with a rooftop terrace that can be accessed.
Above the gate of the former residence, there is a handwritten inscription by Xu Zhimo’s cousin, Jin Yong, which reads ‘The Former Residence of Poet Xu Zhimo’. The main hall has a plaque that says ‘An Ya Hall’, which was supplemented by Qi Gong. On both sides of the ground floor of the main building, there are displays about Xu Zhimo’s family background, life, thoughts, and literary activities, showcasing the poet’s short yet colorful life.
