The Xuanwu Mountain tourist area is located in the northern suburb of Jieshi Town, Lufeng. The main scenic spots in the scenic area include Yuanshan Temple, Fuxing Tower, ancient stage, stone archway, Santai Protection, Qilin Stone, Longmen Stone, and Simei Pavilion. Among them, Yuanshan Temple is a religious activity place where Buddhism and Taoism are combined. Yuanshan Temple is built on the mountain. The Maitreya Buddha statue is a confluence of Buddhism and Taoism. The temple was built in the first year of Jianyan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1127). It was expanded in the Ming Dynasty and is an ancient building complex with the architectural style of Lingnan in the Ming Dynasty. Inside the mountain gate, the houses and corridors intersect repeatedly. The monk’s quarters and halls are properly configured, totaling ninety-nine rooms. Its overall building integrates religious architecture, palace architecture, residential architecture and garden architecture, and has distinct local architectural characteristics. Its building structure is rigorous, with overlapping arches, high ridges and flying eaves, carved beams and painted pillars, and traditional porcelain stickers. The construction skills are very superb. Inside the temple is resplendent. The main entrance is carved with dragons and phoenixes and is exquisitely decorated. On both sides of the door, two stone lions are majestic and lively, just like two dutiful guards guarding Yuanshan Temple day and night. As soon as you enter the temple gate, you can see many precious historical relics on display inside, including the wooden statue of ‘Sakyamuni’ in the Ming Dynasty and the Xuande incense burner. There is also the plaque ‘Weixuanlingbiao’ bestowed by Emperor Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, and the plaque ‘Shuide Lingchang’ presented by Lin Zexu, a national hero in the Qing Dynasty, and the plaque presented by Liu Yongfu, the leader of the Black Flag Army. Behind the temple is a garden landscape. The towering Fuxing Tower can be climbed on three floors. On the left side of the tower is Qilin Stone, and on the right side are Qiyuan Rock and Longmen Stone. On the stones are inscriptions by celebrities such as Hou Jigao and Deng Wanlin in the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
