Built in the 1920s, the original owner of this villa was Xu Jian, an overseas Chinese from Vietnam. It is said that after getting rich in business, Xu Jian became a French citizen and built this villa on Gulangyu Island.
The villa complex has a beautiful European-style gateway, a Baroque-style sculpted screen wall and elaborately carved transitional stone steps. Standing on the steps of the main building of the villa, you can have a panoramic view of Gulangyu Island and the entrance of Xiamen Port.
