Xunpu Village: A Unique Fishing Village in Quanzhou, Fujian

The sea breeze travels thousands of miles, yet it is not as enchanting as the flowers that bloom all year round. Xunpu Village, located in Fengze District of Quanzhou City, Fujian Province, has recently gained popularity due to the ‘Xunpu Flower Headdress’, which has made the village a breakout hit. The image of Xunpu fishing women, adorned with ‘flowers on their heads, wearing large skirts, wide-legged pants, and cloves earrings’, has been recognized by the outside world, boosting the cultural tourism industry of the fishing village.
Delving into the annals of this small fishing village, Xunpu Village, situated on the northern bank of the ancient Maritime Silk Road starting point, Quanzhou Port, was once the departure point for countless ocean-going merchant ships and has a history of nearly a thousand years. The legacy of the Minyue culture and the multicultural integration brought about by maritime trade since the Tang and Song dynasties have allowed Xunpu Village to retain its unique fishing women’s original customs to this day.

The village is open all year round from 07:00 to 20:00.
