The exhibition will showcase 70 Buddhist art treasures donated by Xu’s Art Fund to the Hong Kong Cultural Museum. These include Thangka art masterpieces, gilded Buddha statues, ritual instruments, and scriptures from the 17th to the 20th century, reflecting the exquisite and unique artistic style and the development of Tibetan Buddhist art. Thangka, a unique artistic expression of Tibetan Buddhism, primarily depicts main deities or various sect masters, portraying their deeds and realms. This exhibition allows visitors to deepen their understanding and appreciation of Thangka art from historical, cultural, and artistic perspectives. Concurrently displayed gilded statues demonstrate the ingenious metalworking techniques of skilled artisans throughout the ages, further reflecting the characteristics of Chinese Buddhist statue art under the influence of different cultures and periods. The exhibition also features multimedia creative art installations, narrating the story of the monk Xuanzang’s journey to the West and his contributions to cultural exchange; it also interprets how life and culture are influenced by Buddhist content from an interesting perspective, providing visitors with a new museum learning experience. Opening hours: October 30-31, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 10:00-18:00; Saturday-Sunday, 10:00-19:00. Performance times and durations are subject to the venue.
