Yancheng Museum is located on the north side of the Yancheng site, covering an area of 65 acres with a main building area of 5228 square meters, and is the inaugural masterpiece of the ‘Yancheng Site Protection Plan’. The entire museum is composed of a city tower, city gate, and city walls, and the museum’s exterior is modeled after the Zhuming Gate, the main southern gate of Yannan City, which features a strong Han Dynasty architectural style.
Yancheng Museum is divided into six exhibition halls, namely ‘Lobby’, ‘Hall 1: Central Plains and Abundant Granary – Yan from Prehistoric Times to the Qin and Han Dynasties’, ‘Hall 2: Martial Talent of Wei, New Capital – Yancheng during the Cao Wei Period’, ‘Hall 3: Ethnic Integration, Cultural Stir – Yancheng during the Sixteen Kingdoms Period’, ‘Hall 4: Prelude to Sui and Tang Civilization – Yancheng during the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi’, ‘Hall 5: Buddhist Capital of Northern China – Buddhism in Yancheng of the Sixth Century’. Yancheng Museum plays a significant role in promoting ancient Yan culture, protecting cultural heritage, and fostering the rapid development of Linzhang’s cultural tourism.
The construction project of Yancheng Museum has a total budget of 76 million yuan, located on the northern extension of Yanbei City, covering an area of 65 acres with a main building area of 5228 square meters, 65 meters long from east to west, and 50 meters wide from north to south. The entire museum is composed of a city tower, city gate, and city walls. The museum’s exterior is modeled after the Zhuming Gate, the main southern gate of Yannan City, which features a strong Han Dynasty architectural style.
Inside the museum, there is a hexagonal relief wall made of yellow sandstone, displaying important historical figures and events of the six ancient capitals of Yancheng, such as Cao Wei in Yan, Shi Hu’s military review, Ran Min in Yan, Murong Sanjie, Eastern Wei Gao Huan, and Northern Qi Gao Yang. On the east and west sides, there are two Han-style towers about 11 meters high and six idiom landscape columns. The museum’s construction includes the main building, ancillary working rooms, and landscape engineering.
